Three Crosses Land Services handles forestry mulching and land clearing in Ringgold, Georgia. We are based just north of Chattanooga, Tennessee, about 30 miles north of Catoosa County. Ringgold sits in the Valley and Ridge country of Northwest Georgia. White Oak Mountain starts on the north side of Ringgold Gap, just east of downtown. Taylors Ridge runs south out of that same gap, and I-75 cuts across the south end of town. The town floor sits near 780 feet, and the ridge tops climb past 1,400 feet.
Between the ridges you get long valleys, red clay soil, and steep wooded shoulders. South Chickamauga Creek runs through town and crosses into Tennessee at East Ridge. Tiger Creek drains the valleys east of the ridge line, and Peavine Creek drains Peavine Valley. Ringgold takes close to 50 inches of rain a year, so creek bottoms hold water and brush.
Catoosa County keeps about 7,000 acres in pasture, most of it on small farms. Fence rows and field edges grow up in Chinese privet, brambles, and volunteer saplings. Privet ranks as the worst woody invader in Georgia forests, and birds seed it right along fences. The county is near 70,000 people now, and new houses keep landing on old pasture and wood lots.
Most Ringgold calls sound alike when they come in. A back acre, a grown-in lot line, or the slope behind the house has gotten too thick to use. Forestry mulching takes that down to a mulched floor in one pass. Saplings, briars, privet, and kudzu vine go through the drum and stay on the ground as mulch.
