Forestry Mulching in Red Bank, TN

Serving Red Bank · Hamilton County

Land Services for Red Bank Homes, Yards and Acreage

Forestry mulching is the main way we clear overgrown ground in Red Bank. The drum mulcher on the front of our mini skid steer grinds up brush, vines and saplings where they grow. The ground comes out covered in wood chips. Most of what we cut stays on the lot as mulch.

Red Bank had 11,899 residents at the 2020 census and sits 5 miles north of downtown Chattanooga. Chattanooga's city limits surround it on every side. The town is built out, so the work here is rarely open acreage. Most jobs are back lots, wooded hillsides, grown-up fence lines and yards that got away from someone.

Our company is based just north of Chattanooga, and we cover every street in Red Bank. We clear the growth and deal with the brush on the same job. The estimate is free, and a call or text gets one on the calendar.

Where Red Bank sits and how it grew

Red Bank lies at the base of the Cumberland Plateau in southwestern Hamilton County. The city's own plan describes most of the town as sitting between two ridges. The city center follows the valley of Stringers Branch, which flows southwest to the Tennessee River. Dayton Boulevard is the main road, and U.S. Route 27 runs along the western edge.

In 1955, Red Bank and White Oak incorporated together, largely over concern about being annexed by Chattanooga. The city later dropped White Oak from its name. The name Red Bank came from the wife of the first postmaster, George Hartman. She took it from a red clay ridge she could see from her window.

The 2020 census counted 6,344 housing units in Red Bank and classed every resident as urban. Houses fill the valley floor, and plenty of streets climb the ridge slopes. Behind many homes, the back of the lot has stayed wooded or gone to brush. Warm, wet summers grow that brush back fast once it gets a start.

Clearing back lots and hillsides in Red Bank

Forestry mulching does most of the work on a wooded back lot. The mulcher grinds brush and saplings and leaves the bigger trees you want to keep. On a hillside, the chip layer helps keep red clay from washing downhill. Open ground that went to briars and tall weeds gets bush hogging with our rotary cutter instead.

On a kudzu bank or back fence, kudzu removal means cutting the vines to the ground and mulching them. Kudzu grows back from its root crowns, so most patches need follow-up cuts. Grown-up fence lines come down on the same visit, along with small trees standing in open ground. Stump grinding takes the leftover stumps below the surface.

Red Bank's brush rule shapes how we finish a job. The city does not pick up brush generated by contractors hired to work on private property. That brush is the contractor's responsibility, so we handle it on site. We mulch it in place, or we load it on the dump trailer for brush hauling.

Serving every part of Red Bank

We cover all of Red Bank, including White Oak and the Stringers Branch valley. That takes in the streets off Morrison Springs Road and Ashland Terrace. Most addresses here are 37415, with some in 37405. Hixson lies east of the city, and Dayton Boulevard runs into town from there.

Our mini skid steer is narrow enough for a standard fence gate, so a fenced backyard stays fenced. The city's long-range plan even calls for widening some narrow side streets, and a compact machine suits them. Estimates are free and given on the property. We settle with you on what stays and what goes.

Red Bank FAQ

Questions From Red Bank Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Red Bank. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (423) 260-5675

Can I set my own brush out for Red Bank to pick up?
Yes, for brush from your own yard work. Request pickup as a work order through the city's Citizen Portal, with limbs cut to 4 foot lengths or shorter. Keep the pile out of the street and the storm water ditch line, with no lumber or plywood mixed in. Brush from a contractor you hire is not collected.
Can I burn the brush instead of hauling it?
Burning permits here go through the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau, and burn season begins October 1. The bureau encourages Hamilton County residents to find alternatives to burning brush. One it lists is chipping or grinding brush and reusing the chips as mulch. Forestry mulching does that grinding right on your lot.
Can you remove a tree right beside my house?
No. A tree beside a house, garage or shed needs close-quarters rigging, which is work we pass on. We handle overgrown shrubs and small to mid-size trees standing in open ground. A tree service with climbing and rigging gear is the right call for the one by the house. If that crew leaves the wood behind, the city will not collect it, but our trailer can.
What goes into the cost of forestry mulching in Red Bank?
The size of the job and the thickness of the growth set most of the price. A steep hillside lot runs slower than flat ground, and bigger saplings take longer to grind than light brush. Gate access counts, since a fenced backyard works slower than open ground by the street. Chips left on the lot cost less than brush hauled away. We price it on the property, and the estimate is free.
Why does my Red Bank yard stay wet after a rain?
Most of the time it is the clay, and this town is named for a red clay ridge. Clay packs tight, so rain sits near the surface and drains slowly. Normal rainfall at the Chattanooga airport station runs about 55 inches a year. Downspouts that end at the foundation pour more into the same spot. A French drain or an underground downspout extension moves that water to lower ground.
