Forestry mulching is how we open up overgrown ground in Collegedale. A drum mulcher mounted on our mini skid steer chews standing brush and saplings down to chips. Those chips settle on the soil as a cover layer. One pass turns a thicket back into ground you can use.
Collegedale is a fast-growing city in eastern Hamilton County, about 15 minutes east of downtown Chattanooga along I-75. Where a lot has gone to woods, land clearing at residential scale opens it back up. That might be a grown-up side yard or a few acres out back.
Three Crosses Land Services is based just north of Chattanooga, and every part of Collegedale is within our service area. That takes in valley lots along Wolftever Creek and ridge ground on White Oak Mountain. Our flyer puts the goal in one line: transforming overgrown properties into usable spaces.

Collegedale sits in the valley of Wolftever Creek. Just west of the city center, the creek cuts through White Oak Mountain and forms Collegedale Gap. State Route 317, known here as Apison Pike, runs through the city center and the gap. The Wolftever Creek Greenway also spans the city.
Collegedale started in 1916 as the site of Southern Junior College, now Southern Adventist University. The city grew 27 percent between 2000 and 2010, the fastest of any town in Hamilton County. The city puts its population at about 11,476 as of July 1, 2023. It also sits right next to the Enterprise South industrial site.
The Chattanooga airport weather station averages about 55 inches of rain a year. Red clay holds that water near the surface, and summers grow brush fast. Kudzu can grow more than a foot a day. Privet forms dense thickets that shade out native shrubs along fence rows and lot edges.
On a lot gone to thicket, forestry mulching is where we start. Brush and small trees in the open parts of the lot get ground up by the drum. On a slope coming off White Oak Mountain, the leftover chips shield bare soil until grass returns. Fence line clearing works the same way and opens a grown-up row back to the wire.
Collegedale's codes enforcement lists high grass and weeds among its common violations, along with overgrown lots. Bush hogging with our rotary brush cutter knocks that growth back to open ground. Where vines have buried a corner, kudzu removal is mechanical work. We cut it to the ground, and repeat cuts over the seasons wear it down.
City brush pickup is capped at one pickup truck load (4x8x4) a month. It takes no stumps or roots mixed with dirt. Bigger loads go out on our dump trailer as brush pile hauling. Stump grinding drops leftover stumps below grade, and French drains carry water off a soggy low corner.
Our service area also takes in Ooltewah next door, plus Apison and McDonald. Our mini skid steer fits through a standard fence gate. A fenced backyard can be cleared with the fence left standing.
Every estimate is free, and we give it in person at the lot. We look at the growth with you and talk through what stays. You get the price before the work starts.
